Reliability tests

Can someone comment on reliability of the link during AP and extender mode tests with the Halow? How long were you able to stay connected and if so what data rates were you observing?

Our use case requires continuous data transmission for 16 hours a day/7 days a week.

For me it drops between 20 minutes and 1.5hrs and with current software does not reconnect (have to unplug the extender to get it to reconnect) the units are approx 1km apart through woods. Works well when connected Halowlink 1 units. There is a update coming apparently to fix the issue.
12-20 mps data rates

thanks for response. Any idea when the new fix is coming?

Hi @venkatr

The design was qualified by GL.iNet with a 24+ hr stability test which exhibited no issues. We also run multi-hour tests across devices through a sweep of attenuation values.

Anecdotally, I use the device every day at home for connectivity to part of the house traditional Wi-Fi doesn’t reach. To my knowledge it has never had an issue - though traffic isn’t continuous.

Scubas issue is unexpected, and we’re looking into why it is disconnecting after such a short time.

The release should be available in a few days.

thanks for the update..where and how can we update the software/firmware on our devices?

@Scuba , I’m getting a similar issue. Device connects, get good speeds for 20-40s then 10-20s no data, cycle repeats:

Config:

  1. Access Point 1
  • HaLow Mode: Access Point
  • Network Mode: Device gets IP from Upstream Network (2.4GHz)
  • WiFi: Enabled & working well (no reliability issues when connected to the AP-1 WiFi Network).
  • DHCP Server: Enabled (default)
  • Static IP (192.168.12.2) set for Extender 1 to manage both devices when connected to either AP.
  1. Extender 1
  • Extender Mode
  • HaLow linked using WDS Mode button (successful)
  • DHCP Server: Enabled (when disabled, client devices don’t obtain IP from Edge 2.4Ghz network)
  • WiFi: “HaLowLink1-Edge”. Enabled & connects, but network stability is poor (40s acceptable speed, the no data (approx. 20 sec)
  • LAN connected devices don’t experience the same disconnection challenges

The lack of functionality with Wizard when in Extender Mode could be improved (e.g. Client Wizard, STA- Bridge Mode

I am waiting for the new firmware mine is a different problem as it works fine for approx. an hour now then stops communicating not being able to access the dashboard on the extender makes this more frustrating. For now I have it hooked to a timer that power cycles the extender every 1.5 hours which keeps it working most of the time. The extender is in a hard to access location making this a pain hopefully we get new software soon.

The 2.7.4 release is now available! You should be able to upgrade by navigating to the Upgrade page of the HaLowLink1 WebUI.

If your issues persist after the upgrade, we will need to continue collecting debug information to identify the root cause!

Both units updated see how they do tonight.

Easy Upgrade. Opted for a fresh config. Working great.
Consistent 15mb/s download, 10mb/s up and 30gb over 2 hours.
