30 minute disconnect?

I have 2 Halowlink 1 units set up at my farm to get internet in another building first one is set up as a access point 2nd as an extender. Everything works great for 30 minutes then the extender disappears from my dashboard as a connected device and no longer provides internet. the purple lights on both units stay lit with intermittent flashing. Unplugging and restarting the extender fixes the issue for 30 minutes then same thing.

Well back to random disconnects halowlink light stays lit on both but no communications and unit is no longer shown on dashboard, only fix is to reset the extender unit? These aren’t much good if they wont stay connected for more than an hour or 2 does anyone have any ideas. Making it worse is having to drive to the location unlock the gates and building with the extender unit to power cycle it.

Hi @Scuba ,
We haven’t observed this behavior in our testings.

Do you mind if you send me your AP and Extender snapshots after the extender goes away so we can assist you with the issue?

you can do so by downloading the snapshot from Help → Support → Create Archive → (wait a bit) → Download

For the Extender, when it’s disconnected and you’re going to reset it, before resetting it, connect your phone to it and download the snapshot.

Kind regards,
Milad.

I will try and get to the extender later today.

Hi @Scuba ,

It looks like there may be a rare condition causing the link to not be re-established after link loss. This looks like it may be triggered by very low signal reception or specific interference. We have been able to reproduce it under focused testing, and can confirm it does not occur in our next version, to be released shortly.

This doesn’t explain why it disconnects every 30 minutes in your case, and are currently unable to reproduce the disconnection without forcefully tearing down the AP. We’ll keep looking to identify what might be causing the link loss.

We’ll update you here when the next release is publicly available.

Kind Regards,
Milad.

OK that makes sense I have been doing more monitoring and the disconnect times are random but never longer than 2 hrs if I put the 2 units within 20 feet of each other they stay connected much longer 12-18 hrs. Do you know when the update will be out as the units aren’t much good if they don’t stay connected reliably.

We will definitely need to see the extender logs to identify why your extender is disconnecting.

The update should be out in a few days.

I tried unplugging the access point when the 2 units were connected then plugging it back in to see if the extender could re establish communication. It does with no issues but if I lose communication when the units are working the only way to get communication back is to power cycle the extender power cycling the access point does not help. I will try and get to the remote location with the extender in the next couple of days to get the logs.

Looks like the update solved it it has been connected since last night with no issues
