MM SDK: can I do with 2 esp32s3 or I need a Halow AP

Hello,

First time ever using morse micro stuff, so apologies in advance if I ask something absurd.

I got a couple of the xiao esp32-s3 modules. I also got a couple xiao modules featuring FGH100M halow module.

With your current SDK, is it possible to communicate between them without an AP? If so, is there the most simplistic code available for me to test? I cannot find such example in the examples folder.

Otherwise, I will buy an AP to be able to test it one of this modules sending stuff to the computer. Is there any recommended one? I am currently considering Alfa Halow-U or Heltec ht-h7608 but, again, I can be completely wrong.

Thanks for your time.

Hi @kaz

For now you will need a Halow AP.

We do have plans to support AP mode on ESP32 devices which is in the works.

With regards which AP you buy, it will be easier for us to support you directly if you have a HaLowLink, but ultimately all the easily available options are using the same chip (MM6108). MM8108 products will be happening soon though!

Hi there , Any update on the AP support for the ESP32
I am really looking forward to use it in one of my projects.
I did get all to work pi zero 2w but eventually would like all to be based on ESP32 and nothing more.
As per the community comments it was mentioned that the support would be out at end of year 2025

Hi @Yousaf93
We appreciate your patience.
We needed to do some additional testing and bug-fixes on the next release to ensure stability, and should be out as soon as it’s ready.

Don’t want to be sound too desperate :face_holding_back_tears:

But is there any timeline defined for the release any approximate as I need to analyze if I can align my work around it

Hi!

Are there any updates on the release of the AP mode? It was mentioned that the support would be out at the end of 2025 and we’re looking to ship a project with this feature as soon as possible. If there isn’t a full release in sight yet, are there any Alpha / Beta releases we could use?

Thanks!
