MIMO Support for HaLow?

I recently read an article discussing the benefits of using RHCP + LHCP antenna pairs in a MIMO configuration to improve robustness in multipath environments. I also noticed that IEEE 802.11ah includes MIMO as part of the spec, which got me curious about real-world support.

Quick questions:

  • Do current MM6108 / MM8108 chipsets support any form of MIMO, SIMO, or receive diversity at the PHY/MAC level?

  • If not today, is HaLow on these platforms effectively single-stream only, or is antenna / polarization diversity something that could be leveraged now or in a future roadmap?

The use case is long-range, mobile / emergency deployments where link reliability matters most.

Thanks

Hey @dataslayer,

There is no support for MIMO or SIMO or antenna diversity in the MM6108/MM8108. These are single stream (SISO). Customers are currently not generally asking for the speeds given by MIMO and the benefits of diversity currently outweigh the complexity for the use cases we’re solving for in the near term. MIMO/diversity is something further down the road.
