We need clients!

Hey All– I’m a network engineer who’s been doing some lab work testing Halow after MM’s Packet Pushers episode.

To cut to the chase, I’m really struggling with the client side of the equation with Halow. We have options for more infrastructure focused components (e.g. halowlink, helteec has some mm6108 options), but these are pretty impractical to configure and use outside of the hands of a skilled hobbyist or professional.

What’s the roadmap on a proper USB client dongle coming out? There’s both personal and professional projects that I’d love to use halow for, but the lack of ability for me to easily connect up a linux pc or otherwise is a huge issue. It seems all the focus is going towards chip on board solutions, which will be very cool to have once this is all fleshed out, but like– where’s the boring old dongle that makes the technology useful right now.

Our HaLowLink 1 and HaLowLink 2 products can be plugged into laptops in Extender mode right now with push button configuration and no need to access a UI.

With regard to lower powered USB dongles, we currently have the EKH19 (router + usb dongle) available. Be assured we and our partners are actively looking at this area
