Last week the OpenWRT 23.05 has been phased out for the new stable 24.10, which includes a more recent kernel. Is there any timeline when builds with firmware/updates for MM kits are available?
There was another discussion where someone (partly) talked about driver support for kernel 6.6. Is there a guide where you can use the OpenWRT 24.10 as a base and add the drivers/addon/requirements to use the MM6108 … cause looking at all the changes in repo it seems a lot of work to port that manually.
I’m afraid we don’t have a clear timeline for this; a full release is unlikely to happen this year, as we’ve been focused on other things (i.e. MM8108 and HaLowLink 2).
I am hoping to have an updated minimal feed out targeting 24.10 before then. If you wish to try using 24.10 yourself, I would recommend starting with:
This is the ‘self-contained’ feed that is designed to be added to an existing OpenWrt distribution, but doesn’t contain any of the frontend adjustments. It’s tested against 23.05, so to target 24.10 you’d need to adapt the patches, but we have done this internally and it works for us.
Aside from ‘fix patches that aren’t applying’, changes you’d need to make include patching package/network/config/wifi-scripts/files/lib/wifi/mac80211.uc to skip ‘morse’ devices and setting CONFIG_BACKPORT_VERSION appropriately in the morse_driver package.
