GitHub Update - March 2025

Hi All!

Over the past few months, Morse Micro has been working towards the public availability of all source code necessary for developing and building software for devices incorporating Wi-Fi HaLow. As of March 2025, our GitHub contains source code for all software deliverables for Morse Micro evaluation kits, including core Linux driver/firmware, OpenWrt, and our Micro controller SDK.

Our core deliverables, consisting of the Morse Micro Wi-Fi HaLow driver, firmware binaries, hostap, and more, have been updated to 1.14.1 software release packages, kernel patches, and tagged releases of the HaLowLink1 and Morse Micro evaluation kit software. These final releases mark our first milestone for open source availability of our current software deliverables!

The 1.14.1 software release brought along these new features:

  • Passive Scan
  • 4MHz operation restriction
  • Japan region locking
  • Dynamic TWT operation
  • Listen Interval

as well as many bug fixes.

Our OpenWrt SDK was tagged with 2.6.6, 2.6.13, and 2.7.2.

Morse Micro’s OpenWrt 2.7.2 brought along the following new features for our evaluation kits:

  • Integration of the 1.14.1 driver and firmware.
  • Upgraded to OpenWrt version 23.05.5 from 23.05.3 in the previous release.
  • A new Web UI for conducting long-range throughput testing.
  • Support in the wizards for LTE dongles for WAN connectivity.
  • Support for Thin LMAC mode, which is useful for setups with more than 200 stations connected to a single AP.

and a range of other minor fixes.

Morse Micro’s OpenWrt 2.6 releases brought along:

  • HaLowLink 1 support (in 2.6.13).
  • Integration of 1.12.4 driver and firmware.
  • Upgraded to OpenWrt version 23.05.3 from 23.05.2 in previous releases.
  • Updated version of EasyMesh.
  • A new configuration wizard for EasyMesh.
  • A shiny, new OpenWrt theme added, with revised configuration pages.
  • Support for MM6108 coredumps via SDIO.

and a range of other minor fixes.

And for our micro-controller developers! Earlier in the year, we made available MM-IoT-SDK 2.7.2. This brought along the following new features/improvements:

  • A-MPDU reordering on the RX Path.
  • Update to Morse Micro firmware 1.14.1.
  • Introduced an API to configure scan backoff on reconnect
  • Introduced an API to configure NDP probe request support.
  • Regulatory Database improvements.

and a range of bug fixes.

Complete release notes are currently available in our existing customer portal. We will soon be making these release notes publicly available, without login, on our website.

Of course, there’s still lots to do! Keep an eye on our GitHub for source code for new software releases, and the further development of “Alpha Ports” designed to ease the user integration experience!

We have some changes planned for the delivery of firmware binaries, and will also be making documentation and reference designs publicly available.
