I have a new HalowLink2 purchased from DigiKey.
Updated firmware and I noticed that country is set to EU, and would presume that also affects the frequency used by the halow device.
I’ve looked around and found a device configuration page, that lists the country code as DE and that it’s locked.
How do I change to US so it broadcasts in the 900mhz range?

Unfortunately due to regulatory compliance reasons you are unable to change the region on Halowlink2s, and this is not something that is likely to change going forwards
I’d found the cli commands to make the changes and the radio then wasn’t active, so what you’re saying makes sense.
My end goal is to do a proof of concept project, which is why I went with an out of the box solution for the halow capabilities.
I also am using the esp32 based 6108 based morse halo products that I’ve got set up as halow clients. My end goal is to have them connect to a halow access point, hence the purchase of the halowlink 2.
If my supplier doesn’t have a US based halowlink-2 , is building a pi based openwrt / halo router my best option, or are there others?
You could look at manufacturers like Heltec, AsiaRF.
Mikrotik have recently added drivers to RouterOS. So I’d keep an eye on hardware from Mikrotik as well
