Guys,
An easier one. How do I open up access to the HL1 AP to allow ssh access from the uplink device to the HL1?
My scenario is that I have a upstream router and I have a vpn connected to that and I can log into the router remotely via the VPN. I want to be able to after that jump to the HL1. What settings do I need to make to allow that?
Cheers, Bradley
If you’ve selected the wizard option for HaLow devices to get an IP on the existing network, it should just work. If this is an option, I’d strongly recommend it, as it keeps things simple.
If you’ve instead decided to have a separate 192.162.12.x network for your HaLow devices, we assume that you want the wan network firewalled (as a standard router would have).
To change this, I would create a new ‘upstreamlan’ network or similar on the Quick Config page (and create a new firewall zone on that page, which will default to accept), move your wan ethernet port into that, and change the lan networkg forwarding to wan to lan network forwarding to upstreamlan. Err, let me know if you need a picture for that
Alternatively, you can go into the firewall configuration for wan and allow everything (or just ssh). I didn’t suggest this at first because I think it’s pretty normal for the ‘wan’ network to be firewalled, so creating a new network IMO makes things clearer.

And just a heads up, I don’t think it’s the case on 2.9.x but our newer firmware moving forward will have ssh disabled by default out of the box. You just have to enable it under System → Administration → SSH Access tab.
