how halow works when connect to two or more APs

Hello everyone

I’m curious if, assuming that connecting AP1(connected to internet) only to AP2 through halow results in a speed of 10Mbps, Then connecting AP1 to both AP2 and AP3 through halow would reduce the speed to 5Mbps ?

Thank you

I think I need a few more details about how you’re connecting the devices to understand your question perfectly. A ‘normal’ Access Point can’t connect to another Access Point; only Clients/Stations connect to an Access Point.

Are AP2/AP3 actually Clients in this scenario? i.e. you have two Clients connected to a HaLow Access Point, and the Access Point is connected to the internet? In this case, you have the right idea: there’s only a certain amount of data that can be transmitted, and if both clients are trying to use all the available air time then it will be divided between them. This is the same as any WiFi.

Thank you for your response.
AP1 is connected to the internet via a wired connection, and AP2 and AP3 are Halow clients.
Assuming that AP1’s internet speed is unrestricted and set at 100Mbps, and the Halow communication between AP1 and AP2/AP3 has a maximum speed of approximately 15Mbps at 4MHz, I would like to know if, when AP2 and AP3 are simultaneously connected to AP1 via Halow, the combined internet speed of AP2 + AP3 equals 15Mbps as the maximum, based on the operating principles of Halow.

Yes, that’s correct: you will get at most 15Mbps in total in this scenario.
