Missing “Manage Embedded Software Packages” in STM32CubeIDE 2.2.0 on macOS

I am using STM32CubeIDE 2.2.0 on an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 26.5.2.

The MM8108-EKH05 user guide instructs me to open:

Help → Manage Embedded Software Packages

However, this option is missing from the Help menu in the latest STM32CubeIDE. I need to install:

  • STMicroelectronics.X-CUBE-FREERTOS.1.2.0
  • STMicroelectronics.X-CUBE-BLE2.3.3.0
  • STM32U5 firmware package

The Help menu only shows options such as “Install New Software,” which appears to be for Eclipse plugins rather than STM32 firmware packages.

Has package management been moved to the standalone STM32CubeMX application in the latest macOS version? What is the correct procedure for installing these packages and using them with STM32CubeIDE 2.2.0?

Yes you are correct. Our user guide is for an older version of STM32Cube software.

In the newer versions of STM32CubeIDE and STM32CubeMX, you should perform some steps in the STM32CubeMX software. It should be fairly self explanatory, the buttons have moved around a little in the UI but the concepts and workflow remain the same.

Please also be aware that the latest STM32U5 firmware package (version 1.9.0) is showing some issues. You should prefer to use the 1.5.0 version, which is what we ship and test our example projects in the pack with.
