Is it possible to put an MM6108 into sniffer/monitor/capture mode for a certain channel and channel width and then end up with a .pcap file?
Absolutely! You can put devices like our HaLowLink1 into monitor mode on your desired channel directly from the OpenWrt UI and then use Wireshark with sshdump to run a capture.
Is see in the GUI where I can put the 2.4GHz radio in monitor mode but the “Mode” options for the Halow radio do not contain a “Monitor” option. The only options are:
Access Point
Client
Ad-hoc
802.11s
Access Point (WDS)
Client (WDS)
Am I missing the right section? Also, is there a CLI way to do it?
That is the right place to look. If you’re using one of our evaluation kits, you will need to update it to 2.7.2 to enable monitor mode in the UI.
A 2.7.x HaLowLink1 release will be out very shortly to support this. We lag release versions for the HaLowLink1.
I’ve attached the App Note which has command line instructions for those devices not yet on 2.7.x

Thanks Arien. Did a quick proof of concept using the CLI method and it worked just fine. However, since I only have 2 Halowlink1’s I can only capture the client mode radio probing after I took the AP mode one down to monitor mode. Waiting for the Xiao modules to get off backorder.
