External amplification & MM8108

Hi all,
I have purchased dev kits of both models. I want to add 1-2dBm of external amplification (still remain within regulation of course, but get a bit more range).
I read that to expose a GPIO, I need to edit the BCF. I also read that to get the BCF editor I need to sign an NDA with Morse Micro, which is completely acceptable.

In any case, we want to get a bit more range.
Let me know what are my options here.

I tried emailing your support before but got no answer unfortunately.

Hi @sstbrg

To maintain platform integrity and of course regulatory compliance, the BCF editor is normally reserved for module manufacturers. Make sure you have captured “why” you need the tools in your email to support@morsemicro.com though, so we can review the tools we offer publicly

A 1-2dB improvement is well within the realm of increase that a higher gain antenna could achieve. You could look into alternative antenna options - something like a ~4dB gooseneck (maybe this 4dBi Rokland Gooseneck if you’re US based) should offer enough gain to achieve what you need.

For reference this is the antenna that ships with our EKH19 and EKH01 evaluation kits
