My learning about wifi halow had started from participation in the RIPE Forum few years ago. On IoT panel session I’ve been presenting the research work we had been conducting on deploying LoRaWAN-enabled environmental sensors in rough mountainous terrains of the Kyrgyz Republic. My copanelist Troy Martin made presentation about the HaLoW.
Based on the new insights we had been testing wifi halow gateways along the lorawan gateways in one of the remote locations this year. In parallel, knowing how difficult to plan radio frequency signal in rough terrains with existing solutions I’ve designed and built such system - FresnelPath - terrain aware radio frequency planning tool. It started from the LoRaWAN features and recently I’ve added Wifi Halow planning support.
